The Safari Club rooms are way better than the Safari Lodge rooms, worth the incremental price. That said the Club operation needs improvements. Service is not up to standard as a top hotel esp for its restaurant operation. Staff level is low and service is less than expected. Breakfast variety is reasonably good however.
Victoria Falls is very seasonal. To see the fall, it's best to go in their summer time when water is plantiful. We went in Oct. water is already very low, rendering a much much less spectacular fall, say may be one third of the max width. By comparison, Niagara Falls in Canada-US is way more spectacular. As well, Victoria Falls does not offer a good vantage point to view the falls, unlike Niagara Falls.
Victoria Falls as a destination is still worth visiting, but do not just focus on the Falls.
Boma is an interesting cultural dinner show place. Cost 65US. But don't expect too much of the food nor show. Food variety is good, but quality not quite. Walthog meat is excellent, but roasted lamb we had was seriously tough in spite of request for a more tender cut. Drinks are extra. Outlook Cafe is an excellent spot. I say, must go. It offers a very good vantage point to see the gorge downstream of the Falls. Drinks are inexpensive.
Overall VFs is worth going. Safari Club is recommended for its location and view. The latter makes the trip worthwhile.
The cruise was very relaxing and the sunset was beautiful - but the service, food, and drinks were a very pleasant surprise. Our glasses were never empty - we enjoyed some type of rum concoction that was quite good, and there was wine and other drinks available as desired. We honestly didn't expect too much on the dinner quality, especially when we saw the small area on the boat the chef had to work with - but we were pleasantly surprised, I would say it was gourmet quality. We would definitely recommend this trip if you are in the area!
The dinner cruise was excellent. The staff was great and the views on the river were breathtaking. Our group was very satisfied with the experience. There was an unexpected 10.00 river usage charge once we got to the site. I would suggest letting future guest know about this. I just happened to have the 10.00 on me so it was not a problem. Just was not sure why this was not added to the original price of the cruise.
The dinner cruise on the Zambesi River was enchanting from start to finish! It was an intimate and highly personalised experience with all crew members being really friendly yet efficient and capable. It was such a romantic setting, and we felt very well looked after. The 4 course meal was outstanding!. Full marks to this excellent team of lovely, talented people - and many thanks for this highlight of our trip!!
