This was my second time visiting Versailles and my first time utilizing a tour of any kind. The skip-the-line service was very helpful. My previous visit to Versailles, I waited over two hours in line just to purchase tickets. With the skip-the-line option, our tour guide had our tickets for us and we were able to go right in. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgable. At the time of booking, we were able to select a guide who spoke English. This was helpful, considering our French is very limited. I had two teenagers on the tour with me. They had lots of questions that our tour guide easily answered. All in all, a great tour. I would recommend it highly.
The guide was very unorganized. The headphones were given out in a very large crowd and it happened to me raining. Many initial headsets did not work which resulted in more confusion. There was an issue w the group entrance that day and so we did wait in a huge crowd in the rain. And tried to find a way to hear our guide.
An easy solution to this would be to assign headsets in the meeting spot. Their would also allow the guide to turn in any that were not working. Further, the guide could provide information on the walk over. The time also went fast and didnt cover that much ground in Versailles. We could have done this on our own and saved quite a bit of money.
Although this was a skip the line tour, it still took quite a bit of time to get in. Once inside, Versailles was mobbed. It was so hard to get around. I found our guide to be mediocre. Went into way too much detail in each room, which made the tour long, boring and difficult to stay focused as people were pushing and shoving. She needed to review the highlights in each room.
