Palace of Versailles was a very interesting outing. The audio guide is very helpful, although for the first couple of paintings etc there was no English commentary, which was a bit frustrating. Also, on our ticket there was written that we needed to meet with the tour guide across the train station, which we did not read (our fault) and went straight to the Palace, if this could be written in caps or red font to catch someone's eye, would be helpful.
This is a a absolute must to get into the Palace of Versailles. We easily passed over 300 people waiting in the cold to get in. You pick up the tickets for the tour from GuidaTours opposite the train station. The guide takes you inside the palace and you are free to explore. I had the audio guide tour which was really worth it. I'd recommend you carry ear phones to make it easier.
Definitely worth buying the skip the line ticket. It was not an unusually busy day but the line to get in was about a thousand people long and would have taken two and a half hours to get to the front of. Versailles is about 20 miles from Paris so you will need to make transport arrangements. The trains are very good and stop very close to the Palace.
This was a great was to see Versailles! I knew I didn’t want a tour guide but did want skip the line access. The office was located right acrosss the street from Versailles rail station which was VERY EASY to get to from Central Paris. The tour guide, Cassandra was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. It was a great way to visit such an amazing place. The lines are incredibly long so skip the line it truly the way to go! No problems whatsoever from booking to voucher redemption to tour.
When I saw the lines outside of the palace I was so grateful that I had pre-booked this tour. The palace and gardens were very crowded but our guide got us inside very quickly. The palace and gardens were amazing...and we even got to see the fountain show. It was very easy to find the place for meeting our guide, Adrian, and getting our tickets. I would highly recommend this tour.
Wow. After seeing so many reivews, I was excited to book this trip for my family. My mom has a mobile scooter to move around but no where did they tell me that I need to specify this in advance. Anyhow, the day we got there, when I meet the tour guy, the first thing I got out of him was yelling. Because one of the Versailles employee saw my mom while we were waiting for the tour guy, she took us to the front of the check in. I found out that the checkin line for the group is different than the normal line so I had to pull my mom out of the check in line and go to the group. Just for that, he yelled at me rudely. and then he proceeded with
Tour guide was punctual. Cassandra was clear with her tour on our way to the palace. She also pointed us to where the toilets are before we kickstart our tour and helped us get our audio guide while we head for our toilet break.
Very thoughtful as it saves us time!
The Chateau ticket comes with the Fountain show ticket so I felt that it was really worth it. I mean... you wouldn't want to wait 3hours to get into an attraction right???
I was really worried after reading reviews online of visits to Versailles, but when they say skip the line, they mean it! We met at the tour office a few blocks away and walked to the Palace together in a small group. We went around the side to the group entrance and were inside within 15 minutes. The regular line was all the way back to the street. Our guide was very sweet and her English was very good. I think her name was Estelle? We were also given audio guides NOTE: take headphones with you! that are a must. There are no signs even if you could read French to tell you what you're looking at. Yes, there are a lot of people there, so just accept it and enjoy what you are seeing. Pay the extra for this - you'll be glad you did.
