We booked this tour as the reviews seemed to be positive. I'm not sure if the tour changed at some point but it was not enjoyable at all. We booked a lot of tours online and have very rarely had a bad experience. This experience was not pleasant at all. I would rate it below the SMALL WORLD ride at Disneyland. There were 9 nine gondolas and 1 pair of musicians on the 5th gondola that rode single file down a very narrow canal. We could not hear the music most of the time from our boat. We had to be over 160 feet away from the gondola with the musicians. It is NOT on the Grand Canal, you will have the view of what I would consider the back alley of a residential community, nothing of interest, no music, no view. The gondoliers talked to each other through the whole tour so you couldn't hear anything. The Audio Guide that is included with the tour did not correspond with anything we saw. I always read bad reviews and think it's someone who is picky or hard to please but we had a great experience on all of our other tours so please stay away from this tour! We voiced our concerns with the tour operator and they were completely rude to us.
This was a waste of time and money. There are empty gondolas all over the city that you can jump on for a private ride at your leisure. This activity requires you to find a certain spot and wait, wait, wait your precious time away. Our gondolier did not attempt to stay close to the serenade, instead he talked with all the passing gondoliers, smoked cigarettes, and had us back to the loading platform in under 20 minutes. We got off the boat, went down the block and stood on the footbridge to hear our serenade go by... So disappointed!
Found location difficult to find arrived two hors early asked if we could go earlier as they weren't busy they were not very nice and said we'd have to wait as we had a special price it turned out was the same price ! Then it turned out to be six gonolas one had two musicians in. Six to a boat and we weren't even allowed to sit in the main seats for photos
Was for mums 80th she was so looking forward to it.
I would say leave it until in Venice as the gondolas are everywhere this was out of the way for us.
This was a very disappointing experience. We had to share the ride with other passengers who were first on the gondola and had great seats for pictures/viewing. My spouse and I had to sit backwards facing away from the direction in which we were traveling. We looped a couple times around the canal in circles while a man in a far away gondola sang. The ride was an uncomfortable 30 minutes. There was no serenade in our gondola, but I assume the people in the singing gondola were pleased perhaps. The following day my spouse and I paid less money for a private ride with an actual singer and a much longer and more enjoyable experience. This was our very first disappointing viator experience.
This was a waste of time and hard earned money. Me and My Girlfriend booked what we thought would be an awesome experience but in reality, it was the saddest gondola ride ever. To start, we were a group of 6 people plus the gondolier in a group of like 7 gondolas and 1 of which contained the person who was supposed to sing. They took us in circles for the first 10 minutes and then we rode through these small canals. I was in the first gondola and the gondola with the singer was all the way in the back. we couldn't hear anything or even see the man singing. the whole show was pretty much happening in the back and us in the front didn't see any of it. It was our last day in venice and unfortunately it was quite sour, but thank god we found a restaurant that made up for the BIG disappointment of gondola ride serenade this was. BUYER BEWARE!
