Our guide Holly was fantastic. We were the only ones on the tour. OurPrivate tour with Holly was amazing. We enjoyed going to the various local bars/restaurants and sampling the local cuisine. The chichette samples were fantastic along with the wine pairing. If you love food and wine, you will love this tour. This is a highlight of our Venice trip!!
We took this tour in the evening and our guide was Anna. She lead us through the streets to some amazing places and brought us a wide range of Chicetti that we otherwise just wouldn’t have tried, she also kept our Ombra topped up with lots of different wines. Anna the guide was very knowledgeable and great fun along the way. Please don’t turn up expecting to be fed pizza and pasta!!
Would really recommend this tour. One of the highlights and there were many of our 3 week holiday in Italy. Holly was very knowledgeable and interesting. We visited coffee shops, bakery, cafes and gelato shop. Tips of what to look out for to avoid the tourist traps were really useful. My husband and I went back to several of the places we visited with Holly as the food/coffee were superb and all were packed full of locals with the occasional tourist - a good sign.
This tour was super fun and insightful! Our guide, Anna, was friendly, passionate and filled with knowledge about Venice culture in general, Venice food and all the places we visited. When facing a surprisingly overcrowded spot she planned for us, she quickly adapted and took us to another one of her favorites which was great. Apparently she has a bunch of options so tours are both customizable and flexible.
All the places we visited on the tour were awesome providing a great cross section of true Venetian food and far from the more mainstream touristy restaurants. We tasted risotto, cichetti several, cheese, salami, meatballs, wine, tiramisu and gelato - each at places specializing different dishes.
My wife and I took this tour early in our visit to Venice so it provided great context into the local food culture. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. We are recommending it to our friends and relatives.
One more note: if you're a foody or at least semi interested in experiencing the food culture of Venice then this tour is for you. You'll experience some excellent food and get a context for subsequent meals in Venice. Pay no attention to the haters and their reviews below. They must have been having a bad day. Also, don't expect to have pizza on this tour. While it's readily available in Venice we had an awesome one at a place in the vicinity of the train station in west Venice, pizza is not native to the area. This tour concentrates on the largely seafood-based cuisine of Venice.
This was a great tour. It is fast paced so be prepared to walk a pretty good amount. There is plenty of food and wine so don't plan a dinner or lunch after the tour depending on what time you schedule your tour. Our guide gave us lots of information and she was very knowledgeable. Some of the places we visited we went back and hit again because the food was so good. Highly recommend this tour.
This was one of our favorite excursions, thanks to Anna, our guide, and the wonderful people in our group. Anna took us to some wonderful local restaurants, where we dined on delicious ciccetti, delectable pastries, and delicious wines. The conversation flowed, the pace slowed, and Anna was wonderful about letting the evening unfold naturally and gracefully. It was a pure delight.
