There were five of us from all over and we had a great time! Yu was friendly, generous, so nice, and very informative. He took us to several places we would never have known to go. We started with craft beers at the Asahi headquarters. Then we walked along the river under the cherry blossoms to a saki tasting which included meeting a true sake master. Yu also took us to an Izakaya where we had a sampling of traditional Japanese neighbourhood fare. We ended up at an upstairs small restaurant where we cooked three types of Japanese pancakes at the table. I love okonomiyaki! All food was servered with our choice of drinks. I recommend plum wine with sofa. The tour is in a great neighbourhood. Its fun and filling. I highly recommend it!
This was our third tour with this company, and we loved this one as well! Each tour we took three with this company in total provided us with a different insight, a different flavor, and a different taste to Tokyo culture and cuisine. Despite being a small group, we had two members from the company come out and provide us a great time! Not only did we get to see a more traditional and historical section of Tokyo, Asakusa, we also had ample opportunity to try interesting foods that admittedly, we might not have ordered on our own. We wouldn't even have known they existed! We made ample stops to different establishments, learned about food and night culture in an inviting format, and had a great evening. In addition, we were also encouraged to ask questions. Our guides were willing to share personal stories, point us in the right direction for future endeavors, and encourage us to try new things. The personal touch of this company is what really touched us the most. The kindness and enthusiasm this company showed to us caused us to end our evening and final tour with them with the warmest of feelings. If we ever make it back to Japan, we will make our best efforts to seek this company out for any other tours that might introduce us to something new or if they extend to other cities and we are able to make it to these cities they extended into Kyoto, I think!, we will make our best effort to seek them out there. We felt comfortable, encouraged, and satisfied on all counts. We left each tour with a new zeal and confidence for the focus of each experience and a deep appreciation and respect for the people running the tours.
This was our favorite tour of the trip. Our guide, Ichi, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! We would recommend this tour to everyone. You start off trying different kinds of Asahi beer. Then you go to a sake/liquor store where you try different sakes. We ended up buying a bottle cause they were very good. Ichi then walked us by Senso Ji temple and was willing to take pictures of us. We then got to eat. Ichi did the ordering for us and listened to what we like and don't like and suggested food to try based on that. Then you end the night at another restaurant for savory pancakes okonomiyaki.
I absolutely loved my tour with Ichi! It was really fun to be able to experience Japan more like a local rather than as a tourist. Because I was the only one on the tour that night, he customized the food to fit my adventurous palette which I loved. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone new to this area of Tokyo.
We had a fantastic night ! Our guide, Ichi, was very charming and informative. We went to great bars and restaurants and Ichi even acted as a first class chef in our final restaurant ! It was fun, and great meeting other people and getting access to the inner secret side of Japanese cuisine. Oh....and I almost forgot to mention the Master Saki brewer who let us taste his fantastic home made Saki varients.
