The tour and the tour guide was great. LBJs boyhood home and the Texas White House was outstanding. Learned a great deal and enjoyed every one of the stops. I recommend this Texas hill country tour to anyone who enjoys history and seeing new places.
Our trip to LBJ birth home and ranch was amazing .our tour guide really knew the history and made it fun .
And Luckenback, and the winery was very relaxing....we were very pleased and will return to do another trip in history.
I highly recommend the tour,so much fun and worth it all.
I give this a 1 because of the excellent driver and the LBJ ranch. The tour guide picked us up 1 hour late and even though they sent a bus equipped to handle my scooter it did not work' the guide was told wine tasting and the pacific war museum were of great interest. We did not see either one due to poor direction of the guide.Lunch was to be from 12 to 2 in Fredericksburg he got us there at 4pm and gave 45 minutes to eat lunch, the restaurants had 30 minute waitsLuckenbach was a quick pit stop and back on the bus to be caught in a street festival in Boerne the winery was closed. We were picked up at 9am and got backed to motel at 7pm,the guide was not very informative.
Very glad that I stayed an extra night in San Antonio so that I could take this trip out into the country. While I lived through the Johnson administration and have done a lot of reading about LBJ, seeing the ranch and other key locations in his early life provides a different perspective. Tour hits several other locations in hill country as well, but is never rushed. Bus was comfortable and driver/guide Jose Y was knowledgeable and pleasant.
We had an excellent driver/tour guide. He was knowledgeable and fun. The LBJ White House was very interesting, loved all the scenery along the way, wine tasting was excellent. We went to the town of Fredericksburg and it was very picturesque but pricey. Many other great things to see.
The best bits of the tour were Luckenbach - a stunning little town with a great vibe and live music. But we only stopped there for 15mins! And the final drive through hill country was beautiful.
The LBJ stuff takes up an unevenly weighted portion of the day. I would be happy to see the ranch and then spend more time in the countryside. As it is you spend most the tour going around various places that have sme connection with LBJ.
Through out the tour they play CDs which are supposed to animate the experience with the voices of 'local' characters telling you about the landscape and towns around. While it should be fun, it's actually embarrassing and reminded me of awkward high school education videos. It's OK, you get out into Hill Coutry and learn a lot, but unevenly weighted and the CDS are tacky.
Our tour guide, Ray, was amazing and funny. He knew a lot about the hill country, restaurants, and fun things to do. The tour was well thought out as far as a variety of things to do for people with varying interests. The tours to the Texas White House, LBJ's childhood home and birthplace were especially enjoyable. I enjoyed the Fredericksburg part of the trip where we ate and shopped a little. Very good tour!
