It was such an amazing tour! Our guide John picked out places to visit with fun things to do, interesting background stories and breathtaking views. Being a local, John knew so many things to tell us about this area and also the scottish culture. During the car rides, we jammed to scottish music and had an amazing time together. John was very considerate and polite: he always asked how we were feeling, if we need to use the restroom, if we want to do certain things or skip them, etc . He has such an easy going and down-to earth personality. You could really feel his passion for the nature and also for doing these tours to show people the beauty of the scottish nature and landscape.
All in all, it was a great tour with an even greater guide who made out trip to Scotland memorable and definitely worth it and we can totally recommend it! Thank you John! :
By far the best tour I have been on ever! John took great care to make sure I enjoyed myself to the fullest and was incredibly flexible in his tour, allowing us to stop for longer periods in some areas. His is the only tour to have more time on the ground than on the bus! An absolute must!
Best intro to lochs and highlands of Scotland ever!
After this tour, I thought, ok, I can go home now, completely satisfied that I've seen the best of Scotland!
I am a big fan of small tours, so having 8 people or less was ideal. The tour was the perfect mix of scenic drives, short hikes, and interesting conversation.
I read that the guide tailors the tour according to the group's ability level, so that may be why I feel like I got the right amount of exercise and breaks between.
I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with the group, since I'm in my 40s and a little overweight, but I go to the gym, and I try to get my 10K steps in a day. This was 16K, FYI!
There were plenty of restrooms all along the route, and places to stop for a quick lunch if you didn't pack yours. We got fish and chips in one village, and even a fried Mars Bar - decadent! But I earned it after those hikes uphill, which were totally worth it for the breathtaking views of the lochs and highlands. I doubt we could have seen anything like that from any car parks or turnouts, if I'd rented a car.
We stopped for waterfalls, Rob Roy MacGregor's grave, a cool old church and cemetery, a still-functioning water mill, and the picturesque village of Luss again, you can choose what you'd like to see or skip - I skipped feeding the Highland cows, but had to get a pic of the baby lambs!.
My guide, John, is a wonderful person, with a great down-to-earth personality and polite, professional manner. He tells good stories, and has tons of information about everything in the area. He's lived in Balloch all his life, and has started his own family here! No better way to see the area than with a local who loves the land and his heritage.
I can't imagine a better tour of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Why would anyone want a tour with more than 8 people? It's much more special with a small group.
Some people canceled just before the tour started, but John still continued the tour, and I appreciated his not canceling on me, even though I was the only one left. Now that I've met him, and ha, spent the whole day one-on-one with him, I am not surprised at his continuing the tour. This is a new business, I think about a year old, and he definitely has high standards and values. Thank you John, and Scotland's Wild!
