I am so very thankful that the local company allowed us to change our day. We got in late the night before and were very tired. The trip was wonderful!!!! First you go to the Royal Phuket Marina to get instructions for the day. (Tip- you don't need the water shoes but might need the waterproof phone cover) The guides were funny, professional and spoke great English. Next you get on the boat and in 20 minutes you are at the first island. (Tip- Don't waste your time with the bars. You only have an hour so walk around, swim and take pictures). Next, a 25 minute boat ride to Phi-Phi island to eat. The buffet was a normal meal that had something for everyone. (Tip- take a walk down the beach to the boardwalk to get the real feel of the island). Next, they take you to see the monkeys then go snorkeling. It was awesome!!! Clear water and awesome coral. Next a 25 minute ride to Bamboo island that is a National Park. It is beautiful and natural and I can see why it is a national treasure. Enjoy the ocean and go swimming and snorkeling here. You can see where the trees were ripped up from the hurricane a couple years ago. You really feel like you are in the middle of the ocean and the world from here. The guides are constantly feeding you snacks and drinks. They passed out cookies and fresh fruit. We were so full after the trip we didn't need dinner. I am so happy we did this and booked safely through Viator. I will do it again and again.
30 people on a boat is too many. Thank goodness all aboard weren't full size adults or the 1 hour ride would have been even more uncomfortable than it already was. No where on the booking description did it mention the majority of the passengers would be seated in an area on the boat without full view of the sights unless you want to stand up - not good with rolling seas or look out the back of the boat - offering a limited view. The buffet lunch was horrible. We went to a hotel's dining hall cats were on the tables eating from plates that hadn't been cleared off, there were people everywhere with minimal organization. We went from location to location and did see some nice sights, but getting 30 people on/off timely is a challenge. Thankfully, the boat staff was diligent about the presence of jelly fish in various locations and moved us to other locations, but again, getting 30 people on/off or even allowing all access to see the sights as we skimmed the rock formations or viewed monkeys, was a challenge at best. Standing on the seats to see out from the back is not my idea of sight-seeing. Had the description or even comments left by others made any mention of that, we wouldn't have booked this trip. Our expectations were not met. With all the traveling around to find a place to swim, we got caught in a monsoon rain storm on our way back to Phuket. We huddled under life jackets as the rain pelted us while the driver had the boat motors wide open, navigating through heavy rain that reduced visibility. We could NOT WAIT to return to land. We were drenched which yes, we visited during the monsoon season, but knowing of the rain in Phuket, the guides should have adjusted the trip to get us back sooner. Our transportation to the hotel was waiting for us, thankfully however, we left his seats soaked. Check on boat capacity before booking one of these tours, unless you want to sit shoulder to shoulder, without the ability to view the sights easily.
