The Alcatraz Tour was great, it was interesting to learn of the history of Alcatraz. Ben was our North Beach guide, he did a nice job of sharing history and stories of North Beach as we walked from place to place. The restaurant choices were top notch and the service was terrific. We enjoyed meeting a lovely couple from Scotland that shared the tour with us. My family found the experience to be one of their favorites while visiting San Francisco.
Worth the price! This was an amazing and fun expierence! We started at Alcatraz which is phenomenal! Then we did this tour which our tour guide Margarita was such a joy to talk to! She brought us to some very unique restaurants with authentic Italian foods and some beautiful history with very famous people.
It was definitely worth it and I would recommend booking this tour!
This package tour was definitely a major highlight of our San Francisco trip. Of course, the Alcatraz tour was great - but the North Beach culinary experience and walking restaurant tour with our fabulous guide, Margarita, was superb in every way! My boys ages 11 and 13 say it was the best part of our entire trip to S.F. Margarita's enthusiasm for Italian food and culture and how it has shaped North Beach is just terrific. It was also my birthday, and she certainly made it extra special when we ended the tour at the gelato shop. Birthday candles on the best gelato ever! Highly recommend!!!!!!!
What an amazing experience for us and our two teenage daughters! Our culinary tour guide, Tolan, was the best! She was so fun to talk with and is very knowledgeable about the area. We not only went to fantastic restaurants, but also saw and learned really interesting things about the city. Although we booked this tour for the Alcatraz tickets, the culinary experience easily could stand on its own as a highlight of our trip!
I stumbled across this tour experience in my search to find tickets to visit alcatraz on short notice. I had never been on a food tour before nor did I really know such a thing existed. Loving food and learning about new cities, this seemed like a perfect match on paper. My expectations were exceeded from the day I booked the event! The company had wonderful correspondence and was quick to book me into an open slot. The tour itself was fantastic. My tour guide, Daniel, was enthusiastic about the Mission District and knowledgable about its history and culture. The 4 venues provided us with delicious samples of unique cuisine. Each restaurant seemed thrilled to welcome our group and spent ample time talking to us and answering our questions. This tour was an incredible way to explore San Francisco, eat a delicious meal, and inspired further exploration on my vacation. I will most certainly book with Avital whenever I get the chance in the future!
We only booked this tour because we couldn't get Alcatraz tickets otherwise. The two tours were spaced a part well. We had plenty of time to explore Alcatraz and get back for the food tour.
I was actually surprised at how much we enjoyed the food tour. Tolan, our guide was awesome! She shared a lot of information about San Francisco that was new to us, and truly went above and beyond to make sure that everyone had a good time. I'm giving the tour 4 stars and not 5 because there was no choice in food on the 4 stops. There was one thing that everyone got, and that was it. I know the company asks for food restrictions, so be specific if there is something that you don't like to eat, not just your allergies. I didn't specify things that I don't eat because I'm not allergic and assumed that there would be options. If I could change one thing about the tour, it'd be to have at least two items at each place, or to be more specific in the description of the tour in regards to what food will be offered.
