The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very nice person.
We booked this particular tour because it offered headsets. The tour operator said they didn't have them, even if the confirmation says : headsets.
In our confirmation we saw that the tour was to last 3 hours. It took 2;20 hours. Which parts we didn't see?
We were assigned to the Roman Empire Tour Company. When we showed up early for our 10:00 a.m. tour, we were told our tour wasn't until 10:30 but they had never contacted us with the change. When we returned, the office was in chaos as they tried to book walk-ins. We were finally walked over to the Colosseum only to then be pawned off on another tour company City Tours who then walked us back across the street where we had to wait for the 11:00 tour. The guide for the Colleseum was great. It was raining and head sets were not working well, but the Colosseum is inspiring no matter what. The tour ended after 90 minutes. When we showed our voucher to the guide which indicated it was supposed to be a 3-hour tour and include the Palantine and Forum, he then had to find another English-speaking tour guide for us. That guide was great. Overall, the tour guides from City Tours were fine, but the Roman Empire Company was definitely not one that we would recommend to anyone.
The directions were not good. The tour of the colosseum was good but could have been given longer to look round. The guild was changed for the forum tour and told a man was taking us but a woman turned up, she did not stop so we could take photos, not very informative, moved very fast, even the young one did not keep up and she didnt like to be asked questions and she was only with the group for 3/4 hour. We were not given a ticket for if we got separated from the guild. The tour company was called FUN TOURS and I would not recommend them you anybody and hope aviator think very carefully about them again.
We had 2 guides for this tour. Both were knowledgeable and personable. The guide for the Colosseum tour brought along good reference material to illustrate his talk. After the Colosseum tour we met another, large group that joined us for the Palatine Hill/Forum tour. This group, was much too big. It took a long time for the entire group to,gather at each point, so either the guide waited and delayed very one, or the slower walkers missed the beginning of her remarks. There were no headsets to ease that problem. Also, at the Forum tour the guide took us to a lookout spot and pointed out sights, which she suggested that we do on our own. I think the two sights should be split into two, tours, to,do justice to both. The Forum tour as it is felt skimpy.
