This was a fantastic experience. It was about one year ago today that we did this tour.
We were travelling with our 9 year old daughter and she still talks about this day!
First of all, we were late arriving and in full panic mode! And to top it off we couldn't find our guide outside the metro stop which was very busy. But we started asking other guides if they new her. Finally we found her! She was with the other family from Australia that would make up our group for the afternoon. They had a little girl our daughter's age and a little boy. We didn't know what to expect except for what we read in the description and reviews provided on this website.
WOW! Were we blown away! Our guide was incredible! Upon arrival at the Colosseum she handed each child a clip board and then explained to them that they would be collecting information over the next few hours and being quizzed, and based on their score on the quiz earning points towards prizes! Well, the kids were happy to say the least! Over the course of the afternoon they learned tonnes of history and won tonnes of prizes! Our guide had so much information to tell us and kept it all very interesting, even the kids were engaged throughout the whole afternoon.
The Roman Forum was great as well. Lots of cool history and again, she kept all of us totally engaged. She was supposed to wrap up the tour around 4:30PM and she didn't leave us until about 6:30PM. She really had a lot of great knowledge and all of us adults were so impressed with the way she was able to hold all of our attention. At no time did I think... I wish this was over.....
i would highly recommend this tour to anyone of any age. Lots of great info. An experience you won't soon forget!
Alessandra went WAY above and beyond to ensure my family had the most outstanding tour of the Colosseum. She was patient and kind with the kids and kept the information interesting for everyone in our tour. We were only with 1 other family which made it very easy to stay together and to always hear what was going on. Alessandra is amazing and we highly recommend this tour!!!
This was a tour we scheduled for our 5 and 8 year old daughters. Alessandra was kind and patient and kept the kids entertained with stories about the history of the Colosseum and the Forum. There was plenty for adults to learn as well. It was the perfect amount of time and on the flight home our 8 year old said it was the highlight of our week in Italy. It was really hot and Alessandra made sure we found shade, water and the pace/tempo of the tour kept moving but with plenty of time to rest and take pictures. We had two other families with us and it was fun for our daughters to meet kids from other countries and have fun with them in these amazing ancient sites.
Overall this was exactly what we had hoped it would be....a great history lesson, geared towards our daughters but engaging and fun for our whole family. Plus, just to skip the lines and not have to wait was worth the price.
We had no problem meeting our tour guide and even though it was a cold, rainy day, our guide was able to get us inside very quickly. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and efficient in moving us through the structure. As we were outside, she took a picture of us and said that it would be sent to us but we never got it and that was the only picture of our group so I am very disappointed with that.
Our guide Anna did an amazing job engaging our group, which consisted of our family of 4 2 kids ages 10 and 8 and another family with a 7 year old. She used language and stories that kids would be engaged in, took the time to take us to different levels of the Colosseum, brought with her pictures and books to illustrate her stories, and was patient and happy to answer any of our questions. She also proactively offered to help with taking photos - which allowed us to have family photos with everyone in it! After the Forum and before leaving us she made sure we knew where the bathrooms and exits were - an engaging and informative tour. Highly recommended!!
This was a great family experience - we highly enjoyed the tour this made our 7 year old son's experience of Ancient Rome come to life with detail and history pitched perfectly by our guide Francesco.
This tour is something we would thoroughly recommend to any families coming to Rome for the first time. There is great context for adults and children alike.
Hi, highly recommend this tour. Our guide Marta was very knowledgeable and engaging. Both kids boys aged 9 and 11 and adults got a lot out of this tour. It was incredibly busy so great to have someone else to guide us through the crowds and know all the good vantage points. Marta also took us through a treasure hunt through the Roman forum which made us focus on a few of its highlights rather than trying to understand all the ruins. It was also fun to meet up with another family group on our tour.
