This tour wasn't what we expected - it was better. The national forest is still for the most part closed, so instead we went on a journey to a remote area of the island where there is a small trail through some very scenic and unique back country. The destination was a spectacular double waterfall with a pair of pools to wade or swim.
The hike is easy to moderate to the base of the first falls, and it takes a bit of skill to get to the second level, but the payoff is amazing.
Jerry is knowledgeable and very personable. He'll have you feeling like you're long-time best pals by the time you get off the shuttle van and to the trailhead. The local dogs that follow along are part of the charm of this hike. All four of them were great fuzzy friends along for the hike.
At the falls, you get as much time as you want to explore, take a swim, chill out, snack on things you may have packed with you ... whatever.
After the hike, a stop at a small local restaurant for a selection of local food and beverages was well worth it. It's at your own expense, but the price is not exorbitant and the food is delicious.
Where there were only two of us on this adventure, the pace was a bit quicker than advertised, but that was on us. Jerry is very much all about going at the customer's pace through the whole experience.
I would certainly recommend this excursion and any other with Jerry here in Puerto Rico. This was a great time.
OMG!!!! If you are only able to take one tour while in Puerto Rico..this one is it! I started out with a different tour company only to be cancelled last minute which would have ruined our trip..only to be blessed enough to find Jerry's tours...HE IS AMAZING! He took such great care of us..on the way there he pointed out attractions and gave us history behind it...Ths hike was just that...a hike..we became one with nature..no concrete walkway but true hike..we were accompanied by a family of dogs that were amazing and sweet...waiting fr us and guiding us through to the most amazing waterfall EVERRRRRR....after a nice hike...feeling the cool waters was assume and he did not rush us but wanted to make sure we took in the full view and enjoyed ourselves...after the hike back we went to a local spot to grab a bite...again...was assume!! Food that anyone would love..from Ribs to local soups..was delicious!! I wish the day didn't have to end!! Would suggest this :adventure: to anyone that wlll listen!!
This tour was amazing! Jerry was the best guide and he was very knowledgeable. I learned so much about the history of San Juan in addition to El Yunque. There is a good amount of walking on this tour and make sure to bring cash for snacks and a late lunch. Highly recommended, thanks again Jerry!
My girlfriend and I took a trip to PR to celebrate her birthday. We decided on this excursion and was really looking forward to hiking through the infamous rain forest. Jerry was our tour guide and he was very energetic and talkative. We were picked up in a large van and enjoyed the views of the native cities and as we ventured closer to El Yunque. We enjoyed the hike and scenery, took tons of photos and ate a tasty dinner restaurant suggested by tour. Overall my girlfriend and i were very pleased with the tour and would recommend this adventure to others.
Excellent experience! From the moment Jerry pick us up in his clean white van, we knew we were in for a treat. He is cheerful and welcoming as well as very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico and the rain forest. My party consisted of a grandmother, son and grandson. We were joined by another family with adult, teen and child. After driving to rain forest, we stopped at visitor center, hiked to the waterfallwhere we swam under the Fall, climbed the observation tower and stopped to view another fall. On our way back to San Juan we stopped to eat at a wonderful mom and pop restaurant. Every thing about the trip was perfect. Jerry makes the day a great delight!!!!
