Our tour guide David, made the trip very interesting and funny! Everything went super smooth and we got a lot of information about the sights. The guide told all the stories with a really good combination of facts and humor. The Sedlec Ossuary is worth the trip alone, but the St. Barbara cathedral is also an amazing piece of architecture. I really recommend this tour! You also get to see a bit more of the Czech republic than just the city of Prague.
I took a girlfriend of mine on the Kutna Hora tour for her birthday during our most recent trip to Prague. Petra was a great guide, had tons of information and took time to include each member of the group. Petra was also very thoughtful to coordinate with the restaurant and surprise my friend with a gluten-free friendly birthday treat when we stopped for afternoon lunch. From the fascinating information shared by Petra I am now determined to make another trip to Kutna Hora to see more sights the town has to offer.
Honestly, this was one of the worst tours we've ever taken through Viator. From the absurdly compressed schedule to the curt borderline rude tour guide to the massive tour group 50 people!!! to the overall lack of information at the locations, this is one we'd highly recommend staying away from.
To elaborate: this tour relies on public transportation and, as such, is subject to train schedules. It starts way too late 11 am and gives no more than 20 minutes at each of the main attractions, Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist, Sedlec Ossuary the bone church and St. Barbara's Cathedral. Let me repeat that: 20. MINUTES. EACH. For a 7-hour tour! Absurd. Even worse, there is only a brief description of each location before entering, and no additional information is given inside. Luckily, we had the Rick Steves Czechoslovakia book for some information, and we eavesdropped on other tours Sandemans to get context for what we were seeing.
The tour did, however, spend nearly an hour for lunch at a pre-determined restaurant that the tour company is in partnership with and likely gets kickbacks from. So, an hour TOTAL in the places you're looking to see, an hour for lunch, five hours waiting for trains and traveling and limited information with an unenthusiastic and brusk tour guide. No thanks.
That said, the sights are interesting and worth a trip. We only wish we had more time in them and got more information on them. Based on our experience, you'd be much better served taking a bus tour that can operate on its own schedule with a company like Sandemans red umbrella than this Discover Prague yellow umbrella tour. We had a FANTASTIC trip with Sandemans to Terezin, and their guides really seem to be both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their subject matter.
A group of 4 of us really enjoyed this day but we felt at times a bit rushed. We didn't meet our guide until 11am and took a train to Kutna Hora which was an hour away. By the time we had seen the 2 cathedrals and the bone chapel we didn't get lunch until 3pm and that left no time to look around the small town. If we had left at 10am I feel the day would have been so much more less rushed and enjoyable.
