This tour was so worth it and truly was skip the line there was a 3 hour line that we bypassed, plus we got access to some parts of the Catacombs that only guided groups can go to. We were part of a small group of just 9 people. Avi was our guide and was really exceptional. He was so professional and knowledgeable and gave a great tour - we learned so much. The Catacombs had been closed for several weeks before our visit we checked their website for updates on the strike and got lucky that we were able to get in. Highly recommended!
Excellent tour with a great tour guide. Ask for Abbey, she did a wonderful job and kept all of us in line. We did this in February when the lines are shorter but the line to enter was 4 blocks long. I can only imagine spring and summer. The tour cuts the line though still requires a bit of waiting at times. Added information and descriptions by the guide were excellent, might be the same with the audio tour but the audio tour people we encountered couldn't hear anything else so they would walk into the middle of our group and just stop. Not a lot of space in many of the passages so we often had to press up against a pile of bones to let others pass. Somewhat unnerving to lean on hundreds of femurs and skulls, and I'm a surgeon so I can imagine how others may have felt. Bones from 6 million people, if you consider every adult human after bone fusion has 206 bones that is about 1.25 billion bones in the catacombs total. As a Trauma Surgeon I kept looking at the numerous skulls with gunshot wounds, skull fractures etc. My wife finally made me stop saying oh could have saved that one, oops he would be a goner.... Overall a great tour, highly recommended but not if you don't like confined spaces and make sure you use the water closet before you descend, no restrooms underground and lots of stairs down, and more up, so wear comfortable shoes too.
