We were lucky to be the only two on this morning tour so we received one on one attention from our guide, Jamey. He was very knowledgeable about New Orleans and the cemetery so we learned a lot. We recommend talking this tour versus just walking through the cemetery on your own as you get all of the history and lore f torhe same price as the entrance fee. We took the 9am tour which was smart because it was a very warm day!! Also, Jamey texted us before the tour with a picture of the meeting spot which was a nice touch and very helpful.
This tour was great! The cemetery is a MUST see, and Chad was a great guide! He gave is so many amazing details, and really knew a lot about the cemetery, as well as the history of New Orleans. We would highly recommend this tour!
My family was really happy with this tour by Steven, who was full of information and clearly well researched. Tour began at the Visitor's Center, at the wall map where he explained what happened when Katrina hit. Because there was a funeral happening at Cemetery 1 that morning, we toured Cemetery 2 first, then we went to 1 for highlights. This was fine with us. I liked that the tour was at 9am, as it was before the heat of day and allowed us to book a lunch time activity. A cemetery tour was not at the top of my list for NOLA, but I'm glad we did this tour.
This was our second tour with Tours by Steven and we were not disappointed! The tour was small in size and Chad was an amazing guide. He started the tour by explaining the burial process and the history of the cemetery. He then guided us through the cemetery while pointing out many interesting tombs for their architecture and the historical significance of their occupants. We were encouraged to ask questions and he took us to see any tomb or area we requested at the end. Highly recommend this tour!
