The trip was a great opportunity for me to familiarize myself with the city and points of interest. The "conductor" (Kalani) obviously enjoys his job, and was happy to share his knowledge of the city. One difficulty to mention: we had to wait almost half an hour at one stop (#7, Farmer's Market) because two trolleys were full. Fortunately the next one had room. Something to consider, especially during a busy time of the year....
We were very disappointed! The guide was great and funny, however we had to wait after 3 trolleys to even get in because they were jam packed, then didn’t want to get off anywhere to explore because the lines were outrageous to get back on. I was then almost forced off because I didn’t have a printed voucher just the ticket from Viator which apparent is not a ticket. I refused as again was not waiting in the outrageous line to get back on. When we did get off finally we grabbed an Uber the rest of the day.
Interestingly, I can report about this tour from two sides. First we inadvertently got onto a competitors hop-on-off bus. The driver/guide did a fairly good job of describing what we were passing. When we finally realized our mistake, we boarded the correct bus and could immediately see the difference between the two companies. The guide/driver was very well informed about Nashville and the sights we were passing. They we had two different ones were well-able to answer questions from the riders and could elaborate on what we were passing. The main reason we like these hop-on-off tours is so that we can get a good overview of the city and return later to whatever strikes our fancy. We returned to one of the stops later that night Bobbys Idle Hour on Music Row and enjoyed the live music and 3 beers. The bartender even directed us to another out-of-the-way venue where we enjoyed honky tonk music with the local aficionados. The tour was just long enough that we felt like we got a good look at downtown Nashville and enough information to whet our appetites for more. My only quibble is that we didnt understand that we had to start the tour at a very busy downtown location. I thought we could use our voucher to get on at any stop. We found parking not cheap near one of the stops, and counted ourselves lucky to be able to hop on the next trolley. The drivers were very helpful though and directed us to the correct location to get our actual tickets. Otherwise, Id highly recommend Old Town Trolley Tours.
We had one day to spend in the City of Nashville. We would highly recommend this tour. It was a great way to learn about the history of Nashville and to see all of it's wonderful sights. Our driver s were excellent. They knew the city well and shared their individual sense of humor and knowledge with all that traveled on the Trolley Tour.
