This was a fantastic tour if your time is limited but a long day. It was great not to have to drive to Naples and Pompeii but be driven in a luxury coach. There were 6 of us including a 10 year old and 15 year old. Like most places you could always stay a bit longer but we had a taste of Naples and Pompeii but hope to go back one day. We also stopped at a shopping outlet which gave us enough time for a coffee and a cameo factory next to the Pompeii site. Our tour guide in the coach Palo was difficult to understand at times which was a shame as he was trying to give us lots of information. The tour guide who came with us to Naples and Pompeii was very informative but sometimes difficult to hear as the head sets kept cutting out. The closer you were to her the better. The lunch in Naples was OK, I have had better but it must be difficult to cater for such a large number of people. I would recommend this tour.
Honestly, Naples was just okay to me. Maybe I need to go back and spend more time there to appreciate it more. However, Pompeii was extraordinary. I was amazed to see how much was preserved in this ancient city. I truly enjoyed not only seeing it but learning about the history. Make sure you drink plenty of water while on this excursion, the heat was insufferable.
This tour started out very well. We were picked up at our hotel on time at 6:40, but the van was already full so we were crammed in beside the other people already on board. We then endured a 10-minute and very bumpy ride across Rome to the start point of the tour. Once there we were quite confused about the arrangement because we then had to transfer one of several large tour buses in which different tour groups would ride, depending on what their final destination was. Anna, who was our tour guide, was VERY helpful, though, and she made sure were on the correct bus for our tour. By 8:00 we finally started the trip to our first stop, Naples. Anna gave a very nice commentary that was helpful--and we did stop on the way at a large rest area where we could use the restroom facilities. Once we got into Naples we headed down to the waterfront by the Bay of Naples. From there we began a 30-minute walking tour of the main sites in the area before finally arriving at the restaurant where we had lunch (which was included). The meal was already set up for us, and there was plenty to eat (small antipasto, choice of pasta or pizza, and tiramisu or fruit for dessert). However, the restaurant had difficulty getting all the pizza orders done on time, so some people got theirs just before it was time to leave. It was a very warm day (almost 90) and the restaurant was obviously popular, so many customers were waiting in the small lobby to use the tables we were at. Once finished, we then walked to the nearby Norman fort and given a walk-around tour before reboarding our bus. We then made the short journey to Pompeii where we again got off the bus and walked to the entrance to the ruins. It was now the heat of the afternoon and very few of us had water. Because we were now
