Everyone we met were extremely helpful. This was our first trip to Jamaica and it made the whole process of entering a new country extremely easy and carefree. The arrival lounge was satisfactory and the departure was great - in both cases staff were excellent!! I wish other countries has this process, particularly the Dominican Republic where the entry experience is not pleasant.
We would definitely recommend using the club mobay layover lounge, but perhaps not the shared airport transfer unless better arrangements were made.
Upon arrival the help of the club mobay to get us through the airport was amazing and we did get to the lounge, however, we were hurried we had barely enough time to use the restroom and only able to down one drink without enjoying the food or lounge at all to get onto our shared transport as the other passengers were loaded already. This was a disappointing way to begin our time in Jamaica. However, we shook it off and hurried to the awaiting van. The driver was friendly and safe in getting us to the Grand Palladium and once there we were able to relax and not feel hurried.
We were told at the lounge, that our pick-up would be at 12:45pm for our departure from Jamaica and we understood to be at the entrance 10 minutes or so prior to this. We were not instructed to confirm or call anyone as this was the time we were to meet and all would be well.
On our departure day, we arrived in plenty of time at 12:20 to the entrance of the Palladium. We waited and waited and a few minutes before 12:45 we inquired with the hotel staff if our transport would arrive that they would announce themselves and they said yes and they were helping to watch for our transport. We continued to wait and a few minutes before 1pm, we inquired again and the staff became concerned. We were rushed to the tour person, but they were not there so the hotel staff called so I could speak to someone at Holiday Tours who was responsible for the shared airport transfer. I was on the phone for approximately 20 minutes as they were trying to find someone that would get in to the airport on time for our 3pm flight as our shared transport had left at 12:00 without alerting us of a time change. Finally, a taxi was arranged and we were whisked away to the airport, arriving just in time to rush through and board at the gate. The taxi driver was fabulous, but again we wished we would not have felt this rush or concern that we may not make our flight. We also did not even have time to step foot in the departure club mobay lounge luckily they informed us that the tickets are good for a year. It was fortunate that we had the club mobay or we may have missed our flight altogether.
My trip before this, we did club mobay and private airport transfer and I would suggest this or suggest that the timing for the shared transfer was a little more accommodating for meeting all of the passengers needs. We were not contacted of any changes perhaps call the hotel and let the guest know of changes in timing if they exist as not all cell phones work in international areas the hotel would have then been able to alert us. Due to the issues, we were rushed at the beginning and again rushed at the ending of our trip due to the airport transfer issues and unable to fully enjoy the Club Mobay lounges but we were incredibly fortunate to have this or our departure flight may have been missed. Tips to learn: either take the club mobay and private transport OR make sure you call even if not instructed to do so to be sure of pick up arrangements. Viator, please make note of these important changes to alert users of this service in the future. I was alarmed that we would miss our flight and then disappointed that the lounges at the beginning and end, which cost extra, were not enjoyed and we only had one drink to account for that cost. Club Mobay was worth every penny. Our representative, Kirk, met us as soon as we got off the plane and guided us to customs and immigration. The line was huge and we would have waited an hour or two, but were taken through a special line with no wait. Kirk grabbed out checked bag and we were guided to the Mobay VIP Lounge, where we had comfortable seats, free drinks alcoholic or non, snacks and a private bathroom while we waited for our transportation to the resort. Sangster International is very chaotic and can be overwhelming for someone who isn't a very seasoned traveler, so this lounge was a nice break. A representative from Holiday Services came to get us after a short wait and took us outside to our air-conditioned tour van. Our driver was very friendly, played music and explained different areas as we drove the approximate 45 minutes. For departure, the driver from Holiday Services picked us up promptly at our agreed time. We found the Club Mobay desk easily as soon as we went through security and again, they guided us right through customs and immigration and straight to the VIP lounge. This lounge was even nicer than the arrival lounge! Couches, comfy chairs, fully stocked bar, anything you could ask for lunch, tvs, private bathrooms....
Club Mobay is the way to go and I would recommend it to anyone going to Jamaica!
Well, I would have given this 5 stars but the transportation did not show up to take my husband and son to the airport, after pre-paying months in advance to ensure there would be no issues while out of the country....they were a no show in Jamaica. We totally recommend the Club Mobay lounge for arrival and departure,but do not use this company for transportation as there is nothing worse than a no-show on a planned scheduled ride to the airport time was of the essence.
