Mont Saint Michel is awesome and everyone should plan to see it. However, not sure you need skip the line tickets. We went on Monday, Sept. 17 and went straight to the abbey. You still have to wait for the audio devises. It was getting crowded when we left so I would advise to arrive early to avoid the crowds
MUST DO. We almost missed out due to the rail strike. However we were advised to go to St Malo, which we did and the hotel owner suggested we take the bus there and stay in the hotel another night. So pleased, St Malo is the most amazing Portside village. The history is amazing, we stayed within the walls and you could walk all the way around. Stay here, do the day trip with your skip the line tickets.........perfect day. We got back by 4:30 and spent a few hours exploring before an amazing dinner.
So glad we bought the voucher! The line was incredibly long at the 10 AM but we walked right in after climbing a mountain of steps. The abbey is amazing architecturally and historically. We were so enchanted we came back that evening for the Maundy Thursday service, which was magical - monks and nuns with voices of angels, candles, and singing in French - even us! and we don't speak French.
We were so glad we bought the Skip the Line Mont Saint Michel tickets online before we left the USA. There was a line to walk up to the abbey, but we breezed ahead of everyone and were brought over to a roped off section to begin our walk up to the Abbey. We loved walking around the entire village built on Mont St. Michel and were awed at the gravity defying construction of the abbey on the top of the island. Mont St. Michel is truly a splendorous wonder! Buy the skip the line tickets so you don't waste time looking for the kiosk to buy the tickets or wind up waiting on line to buy the tickets.
