Bus, driver and tour guide were fine - trip is 3 hours each way and as cramped as an economy plane flight. Key West was interesting but we found it very commercialized and a pricey crowded tourist shopping experience. Our chosen glass bottomed boat tour ate up 3 hours of our time in Key West and after our trolley tour of the area we found we had less than an hour to do anything else which precluded touring the Truman Summer White House or the Hemingway House or much of anything else so budget your excursions carefully and expect to do a fair amount of walking on bricks and semi-uneven ground. I guess our major complaint is the amount of time in Key West compared to the 6 hours in the bus and the crowds in Key West.
Key West itself is a great place - a must see if you are around. I loved every minutre spent there. It's a pity we only had 5 hours there THE TOUR DESCRIPTION SAYS IT'S 6 HOURS.....
This trip though.... I wouldn't really call it a trip. It's more of the bus shuttle or a transporatation service. They pick you up, take to Key West. Pick you up from Key West and take back to your hotel.
The tour guide did not provide any interesting or historical facts about Key West. There was a movie shown about the history of Key West, but it was so quite noone could really hear it. It was freezing on the bus in the morning but the guide refused to turn on the heater and said it's because it's cold outside. Tour guide's english also leaves a lot to be desired
I bought the option with the Trolley... as nice as it is it's not worth the money. As we only had 5 hours in the Key West, spending 1:30 hours on the trolley is, to my mind, a waste of time. The trolley only comes every 30 minutes and very often is full so you need to wait for the next one. I'm sure it's a nice option if you're staying in Key West for longer, but if you're only doing a one-day trip, don't bother with the trolley. To me, it was much faster and easier to walk everywhere.
We loved this trip and it made us wish we had planned to spend a few days in Key West. The place is really sweet, lots to see and do, and easy to get around. The trolley tour was great, with some great guides including Michael hilarious and Moni so sweet. It was a long drive there and back, but worth it.
Had a simply marvellous day going to Key West. Started with driver on time. Set off from Biscayne Park and off we went. Scenery was fabulous and as we started our journey to Key West we each in turn were allowed to front of the bus to take photos. Once we arrived in Key West we got on a hop on hop off bus and did the rounds. Had a meal on the waterfront and in general looked around the whole place. We loved it and were sorry we didnt book a few more days to stay there. In hindsight just as well we didnt as Hurricane Irma wasnt far away Got home about 9pm. very weary but a great trip. Thanks Viator. Would recommend your tour.
The pickup at the hotel was right on schedule. The bus ride through the keys was absolutely gorgeous. I chose the snorkeling option and it was three hours total. I was able to try the key lime pie before snorkeling. Then I had dinner at Caroline's and had time to walk back the tour bus on time.
Taking the bus to Key West is the way to go. It is a pleasant bus ride and you are refreshed when you reach Key West. You are dropped off at a great location from which you can walk to a lot of locations. The only thing I would change is that the trolley ride is included in the price. The title is confusing and tends to make you think that the ride is in included, but don't be fooled, it is not and it is not cheap. 29 for the ride and tour is overpriced. Renting a scooter and traveling around the island would be a better buy. Although, the trip around the island is very interesting. The water is very enticing. Also be sure and wear a hat. The sun is very intense.
We enjoyed Key West immensely. But for such a long drive, the bus could have been more comfortable, no extra toilet paper in the washroom. The bus broke down about 18 miles from Key West and the communication to passengers was very poor. We were told about the breakdown - some passengers were called off the bus and apparently put on another bus but no explanations to those of us remaining. After a tow truck came and filled something with a hose ? Radiator, we were on our way. Our stay in Key West was extended by the 30 minutes taken for the delay.
The trip home was uneventful but my back was hurting from the uncomfortable seats
