Pasco our guide was extremely well-versed in and connected to the flora, fauna and fascinating rainforest trails, footpaths and hydrocycle of the East Maui springs, waterfalls and jungle. This is not a leisurely stroll upon gilded forest paths to a waterfall, but an adventurous hike up, through, and across amazing rainforest to hidden waterfalls across hidden pathways. You should wear tennis shoes and socks and be assured that they will be soaked and mud caked then soaked again as you wade through ankle high, knee high, and waist high clear mountain springs. You will swim In crystal clear waterfall pools alone from crowds and later, with crowds on the fourth of five waterfalls we visited. You will stand behind falls and jump from a cliff into a crystal clear pool of you choose. And why wouldn't you? You will remember this trip for the rest of your life.
We went on this hike with HikeMaui and really liked our experience. The tour was on time when picking us up. The guide was very friendly and took her time to get to know us and engage with us. Once we got to the tour site we had any extra gear we may need provided to us. We were provided waters, backpacks, lunches, rain pouches as needed and bug spray. On the hike our guide pointed out many features of the rainforest including the plant life and the edibles there. We were taken to four different waterfalls where we could swim or perhaps jump into a pool for a little thrill. The hike was perhaps 2-3 miles and the terrain ranged from easy to moderate in my opinion. Some of the pools were a bit tougher because the rocks are so slick. My group consisted of a 50 year old male, two 12 year old gals, a 17 year old boy. I recommend this because it is a great way to see some Hawaii nature in a safe friendly way.
This was an experience I will never forget. You do need to have good shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or rent the ones they have available. The waterfalls were gorgeous, and it was so much fun to jump off the ones that we could. There were a couple of places that we hiked that were a little steep and one place that we had to hold a rope to get down, but overall the hike was pretty easy. I highly recommend this tour - do NOT miss it!
