Amazing guide. Kaori knows Japanese food, its history and its deep tradition and her English is perfect so we learned so much in such a short time. Because we are living in japan for a few months, Kaori also introduced us to items that would be part of our Japanese Kitchen while providing numerous other resources for us. She is very sweet and knowledgeable and made the day really fun for both my mother and my daughter who is eight. I highly recommend this tour.
I'm not usually someone who does tours but I decided to give this a try and was pleasantly surprised. Naomi our guide was wonderful and we ended up being able to sample a wide array of foods while also learning about them. At the end of the tour they even gave us recommendations on where to head out for drinks and my new tour group friends and I went out after and had a wonderful time.
I could not have had a better introduction to Kyoto!! Nishiki Market is such an amazing place and was an unforgettable experience. Strolling through the less-traveled areas of Gion was also unforgettable. Tatsuya was a wonderful guide and took the time to answer all of my questions as well as offer directions and his recommendations on dining and further sightseeing - he went above and beyond to make this an incredible experience! If you are seeking a true local experience which to savor the cuisine and culture of Kyoto, this is the tour to book! 5 Stars to Japan Wonder Travel and Viator!
This was a very fun tour! We tried many new foods, and even for someone as much of a picky eater as myself, it was very enjoyable! Our tour guide was very nice and informative, and overall it was a great experience. Also, if you're an anime fan, there are a few good second hand shops and the Kyoto animate nearby the market that are definitely worth checking out after the tour!
Outstanding tour in introducing you to the food in and around Kyoto. Of all the food tours we experienced in Japan, we found this one to be the best because our two guides, Kimiyako and Tatsuya, also provided a great education regarding the culinary culture and history in and around Kyoto. The Gion portion of the tour was especially enlightening about the Geisha profession.
