This tour was the highlight of our trip. The tour directors went out of there way to make sure we had a great day. It was an easy bike ride, especially with the e-bikes. Our guide Shino was brilliant, she spoke great English, was very informative and helpful, answering all our many questions. The host family made us feel so welcome and provided a wonderful meal with fresh vegetables from their garden. It was great to experience the traditional lifestyle of Japan. We would thoroughly recommend this tour which incorporated a little of everything - history, culture, food and Japanese hospitality.
My wife and I couldn't have been happier with our Lake Biwa bike tour! We were thrilled to get away from the city and enjoy the natural surroundings of Japan. Our guides were enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. Cooking lunch with a local family was our fondest memory of our 16-day trip. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Our guide met us in Kyoto Station. The ride to the lake took about 40 minutes. The bikes were easy to ride and the power assist was great when we came to some hills. The lake is beautiful! as is the surrounding countryside! Our guide was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Our lunch with a local family was wonderful. They too were very welcoming and their home was beautiful and traditional Japanese. We helped prepare the meal, which was delicious. They also took us to their vegetable garden and rice paddy.
this was a great tour!
This bike tour was the definitive highlight of our 8-day trip to Japan. The tour guides were fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and deeply cared about showing us a good time in Shiga. They met us in Kyoto's station, and from there we rode the train for 35 min into Shiga. The biking portion of the tour is easy and the scenery is very beautiful. You ride by the lake, then through the town and the nearby rice fields, with gorgeous mountains in the background. We had lunch at a local's family private home that have lived there for 7 generations. It was a very intimate setting and the food was incredible you actually help cook part of the meail. We all ate together with the family, and engaged in very interesting conversations. Lastly, we went to a local artist's wood workshop. It's remarkable to see the things they make without using a single nail using the same technique that has been passed on by generations. Highly recommend this tour.
