I enjoyed this trip. The hotels were very comfortable I particularly enjoyed the Hotel Royal Chiaohsi on the last night. The driver was outstanding, and I particularly appreciated his driving along the beautiful but very steep cliffs going to Jiaoxi. The guide was excellent at managing the logistics and practical issues, and provided lots of information. My only criticism is that whilst there are lots of great things to see and do in Eastern Taiwan, time could have been better managed. I would have changed the following: 1 Things should have been timed so that we could go into the Amis culture centre first and then enjoyed the music show and archery. We didn't go into the culture centre at all and it might have had some welcome air-conditioning!. There were interesting things to do but we just wasted time hanging around after the show. 2 At Luye Goatai, people should have been made aware of the activity options there was paragliding, some kind of hill sledding in advance and then given time to do them if they wished. Again, time was wasted just hanging around. 3 On the last day, spend more time at the National Center for Traditional Arts where there are lots of interesting things to do including the 1 hour show which I couldn't see the whole of and don't go to the orchid shop the orchids are standard supermarket orchids and foreign travellers can't buy them to take home anyway. Also, go to the museum at the distillery first instead of wasting time.
All in all, an enjoyable trip with tremendous potential, which I am very happy I took.
