We had an enjoyable mekong delta day trip. Its a great insight into the culture and the way of life of the people in the islands along mekong river. Lunch was good, had a tastte of local fruits and coconut juice as well. It was a nice boat trip and had fun riding the sampan boat with our non la hats. Our guide picked us up on time and we headed back to the city happy with the tour.
This was an interesting insight into the life of the people on the Mekong Delta, which is a remarkable geographical feature. I enjoyed the trip on the river boat, and the trip in the canals, however the only negative comment is that I felt like I was being herded around like an animal along with members of all the other tours we saw - and there were many! I think I would prefer to go off the beaten track next time.
I was not particularly impressed by this tour especially for the amount it cost. The tour guide was okay but certainly not great. It was hard to hear him speaking in the minibus and I doubt the people all the way in the back could hear him at all. The trip to the Mekong itself was basically stop after stop at little locals businesses where you felt pressured to either tip or buy something. When we took small river canoes, our guide asked us to tip the people driving them? That was incredibly uncomfortable and I did not appreciate it. For 40 per person, this should should be able to cover a respectable payment to the boat drivers without an extra tip for a 10minute ride. Lunch was very good and very filling. Any and all drinks cost extra. I would not recommend this tour.
