The water puppet show was delightfully colourful, full of traditional music and singing and little surprises here and there which what made this an overall lovely night in the theatre. It does however lack a polished finish. The opening and closing of this performance was extremely clunky not to mention the lack of storytelling in this piece. It appeared that there were just a lot of different stories slapped together in order to get bums on seats. Unfortunately, very touristy. What also didn't help was we sat in front of a large group of Asian tourists who did not stop talking during the performance and were constantly on their phones. Very rude! Their guides should educate them on how to be polite to the surrounding audience members and artists onstage!
A must see when in Hanoi. There are 2 theaters in Hanoi so make sure you have tickets for the right one. Very very busy with buse loads of tour groups so make sure you are on time. The show is interesting and colorful, entertaining and funny. You are moved out fairly quickly but can still buy a souvenir or two. They have shows back to back so the foyer and street front are a bit hectic.
The water puppet show was amazing and very enjoyable. Even though the dialogue was in Vietnamese, it was easy to figure out what was going on. On your way into the theatre, you can pick up an English program that outlines what will happen during the show and it's pretty easy to follow along.
The hotel ticket delivery was a nice feature. When we checked in to our hotel, the tickets were already there waiting for us. It was nice to put them in our bag and not have to worry about returning to the hotel to pick them up or stand in line at ticket booth outside the theatre.
