My 21 year old daughter is studying art and we made this a "mother-daughter" trip to expose her to Renaissance art and architecture. The guide was well informed about the David and certainly enhanced the visit to the Accademia Gallery. We also enjoyed viewing the old instruments on display.
Great tour, would highly recommend. Our guide, Daniela, was very knowledgeable and helped us appreciate what we were seeing beyond what we would on our own. She was also very kind and fun. Well organized and structured tour. Really enjoyed it and apreciated our guide.
This tour was short but sweet. The best part was being able to skip the long many hours long! line to enter the museum. The tour guide showed us a special musical instrument display and then talked about some of the other pieces of art in the building before we went to the main attraction. But what was great was hearing about Michelangelo's life, details on the making of the David and interesting facts about the statue itself. Really made the visit extra special. We had our 11 year old son with us and he was thoroughly entertained. We had purchased The Firenze Card as well highly recommend...you can enter many of the main Florence attractions in a separate line and save money. So the next day my son asked if we could use the Firenze Card to just look at the David one last time as he enjoyed the tour so much.
Francesco is an outstanding guide! He is highly educated in the subjects involved in understanding everything that is in the Accademia Gallery. This made for an exceptional tour, where you understood the importance of what was around you. Ask him any question, he loves to answer them. Warm, friendly and personable, you couldn't ask for more in a tour guide.
Great to avoid lines, Katerina was knowledgeable and The David was ... proof of God. Overall tour was a bit short and maybe would have liked to see some other important works / get history of them etc. But overall really quite good!
There was only four of us on our guided tour around the Accademia with our guide Antonio. He was a mine of information and was able to answer any of our many questions during our tour. He made the tour thoroughly enjoyable.
