Great tour of the countryside! The tour guide was knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re not interested in seeing the salt flats or other attractions, you can just ask them for a straight up ATV tour and drive around for the two hours seeing villages and mountains and livestock. Lots of fun
I took off a star because the ATV tour felt rushed. It was a great experience, but it would be nice if they made it an hour or 2 longer so you can enjoy the 2 sites. So the 2 sites are not included in the cost. It would be nice if they worked out a deal with the sites where they could get a discount and bundle the costs into the ATV tour. We skipped the first site because it was like 50 USD to be there for about 15 mins.
Loved this tour, the guides were amazing and super friendly. We had really bad weather during our tour, unexpected rain and they really tried to make the best of it. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the driver didn't drop us off at our hotel but left us about 10mins away. Which wouldn't have been a big deal on a regular day but we were soaked wet and dirty. The tour itself was awesome and the guides were awesome.. they just need to get a nicer driver for the ride back to the hotels.
The ATVs are nice and function well. They are easy to use and make the tour a lot of fun. There is not much time to stop at the two spots because the purpose of the tour is to ride the ATVs. I would do the tour again as it was a lot of fun but if you're looking to get a good look at Moray and walking around or visit the salt mines for more than 5-10 minutes then you may want to do the regular 1/2 day tour by bus.
Do not take this tour unless you are only interested in ATVing through the countryside, quick stop at Moray, and quick stop at Maras enough to take some pics. There was no time for stopping/photos/seeing landscape/otherwise. The speed of the tour was dangerous at times both in the van to/from Cusco and on the ATVs, and you cannot go at your own pace. Our group was mixed with experienced ATVers and newbies. The guide's consistent speed, miscommunication, and insistence on everyone keeping up was scary and annoying. You are on actual dirt roads with buses, cars, ATVers, bikers, animals, and people. On another note, the ATV operators were wonderful, just not the guide, driver, and tour operator. Our expectations were deflated almost immediately with arguing that we were late at pickup they were 10 minutes early, arriving at 6:50am and had reception call us - our pickup time to be in the lobby was 7-7:15am - and diminished throughout the day with constant arguing with the guide and van driver.
The tour doesn't go to a Salt Flat, but to Salt Mines. These are all above-ground and were built by the Incans. It's pretty spectacular, and a great opportunity to buy local salt, souvenirs, and chocolate. Our guides were professional and kind, and did a great job of reviewing how to drive the ATVs. If you are hesitant or have never ridden before, they teach you well and give the opportunity to warm up and get comfortable. The riding was well varied and fun, and the views the whole way were spectacular. The ATVs were practically new and very safe. Bring a jacket because it can get a little chilly.
This tour is for you if you are an adventure junkie. The road we take on the ATV is scenic and some of the most spectacular views on the road to Moray..the best part was stoping on the road to let a family pass with a little girl riding a burro backwards and several llamas and lambs crossing the road. The only disappitment is that the guides did not have a great knowledge of the sites we visited at the sacred valley. Overall this tour is more about the ATV ride
