This tour was awesome! Great guide and nice to see some different bars in this area I walked from DT to here in about 1hour15min, which was a nice walk, but you could also go there by metro. Only thing I was disappointed about: Apparently the area is called Lakeview, it doesn't mean there is a bar with a nice view over the lake included hahah.
Bruce was enthusiastic and did a great job of tying his knowledge of beer to Chicago and its history. Only wrinkle was at the first stop, where the beer taps weren't working so he had to make a beer run for us!!!
Emma and Phil our guides, were such a pleasure spend time with. Phil with his resonant stentorian voice and Emma with her lighthearted and radiant personality are both experts on the history of beer in general and the history of Chicago's beer scene in particular. I recommend this tour for anyone with an interest in the history of beer and of course and passion for drinking this delicious liquid that has been arguably an agent of civilization since our species opened our eyes on an Africian savannah.
What a great way to spend a beautiful fall day in Chicago! I bought this as a gift for my husband's birthday. Phil was an excellent guide and had all sorts of great stories and facts to share with us about the history of beer and the city of Chicago. Whether you are local or from out of town, I highly recommend this tour!
This was such a fun and informative afternoon with our excellent guide, Phil Torre! My daughter and I were enjoying a 'girls' weekend' in Chicago, celebrating our birthdays which are only 5 days apart and had a great time with our group. All of the establilshments were clean, accommodating and the beer variety we experienced was awesome! Kudos!! Can't wait to come back and do the Bucktown and Wicker Park Tour.
