This was outstanding... spectacular actually and a must see. It was a long day but the drive is beautiful through national parks and beautiful countryside. The guide spent the time telling you all about the history and culture and it was the highlight of my time in Thailand. You can't go to Chaing Mai and miss Chiang Rai....... simply breathtaking. Having a personal guide is completely awesome and you feel pampered.
This was a great trip through the countryside of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. We visited 4 temples, White Temple, Blue Temple and two others and had lunch at the White Temple at one of the local restaurants on-site. We additionally visited the Long Neck Karen Tribe and the Long Ear Karen Tribe which the guide encouraged us to do, and it was well worth it. It was interesting to learn about their lifestyle and have the opportunity to chat with the tribe members and purchase some of their hand tooled scarves and trinkets. The women were very friendly and we were able to walk around the outside of their huts to see how they live. The guide picked us up on time and the vehicle was a roomy travel van complete with air conditioning. It was just the two of us and the guide which was nice. The guide spoke English well and was knowledgeable about the area and a good driver. it was a long day with lots of driving and the driver powered through the 9 hours, with many stops visiting the 4 temples and gas station. We ended our trip at the cashew store to purchase some local snacks. It was a great part of our trip and we enjoyed this Private tour. Well worth the money and time.
This is a very great excursion to spend the day seeing many wonderful things. Our tour guide, Ken, was great and very helpful. If there was one thing I would change about this excursion is perhaps there is just too much planned in the amount of time provided. Trying to see so many sights with the amount of travel time between each site, and along with certain closing times, you could not help but to feel a bit rushed. During our trip instead of feeling rushed, we decided to skip the Black House to allow us to see other temples/sites with more time for picture taking and taking in the beautiful scenery.
