All was well organized. The hotel in Chiang Mai is luxury and located in the old city centre. On the day before the trip our guide met us at the hotel for a short briefing. The next morning we drove by car to a market where he bought some food, after that we went to the river rafting which was more a smooth gliding without rough water at all. I wouldn't miss it. They offer some extra activities like elephant riding or meeting a tiger in a cage. You have to pay for it extra but they don't force you to do it. My tipp: don't do it! These elephants look like they don't like their job. I felt very sorry and sad about these poor, suffering animals :
We continued to a village about 50km north of Chiang Mai. From here our walk began. Our guide was awesome! He grew up in this region and knew all the people and a lot about nature. All villagers are very kind, friendly and helpful. The food they prepare is delicious! Because this is an adventure trip you have to bring a certain level of fitness, proper trekking shoes, insect repellent, etc... You get in touch with the nature and rural people very closely. It is absolutely worth it!
