We have done food tours in many cities, and this is the first one where three of the five stops were places that have a national presence. One was a national-based spiced shop, and when the guide was asked what spices were used in food from the area, the response was, I don't cook. In addition, the guide was less than informative and not able to answer many questions about the food, history or area. The two local restaurants provided great food. It was disappointing that we walked past numerous local establishments and stopped at the national ones. I would not recommend this food tour.
This was so diappointing they did not take you to any places that were authenic I did a food tour last November with Viator in New Orleans and that was great. This tour included two places for spices and pralines and they were nothing specia plus they gave you a discount on their products I felt it was just a promotional gimick-l plus the restaurangs were mediocre. Would not recommend this tour at all.
Wife and I have done foody tours in a number of other cities, and this one was right up there with the best. Our guide did a great job. My wife really enjoyed the spice shop as much as she did the food stops.
Tour was good and so were the restaurants we went to, but felt we wasted time in a store and not sure really what that had to do with Savoring the Flavors of Charleston.
Tour guide was good but walked too fast for the group and always liked to walk ahead and not talk while we walked. Would have been nice to learn something about places we passed on the street.
