Our Captain, so sorry I don't remember his name but his 1st mate's named is Winston. They were both wonderful. One of our best excursions we ever experience. We were a little worried because we have always booked through Carnival. We were able to find our meeting place with no problem. We will definitely use Viator again. I told my family and friends this is the way to go. Also our photographer she did a great job. Pictures were perfect. Very pleased.
The staff and tour guides were so fun and friendly. They knew a lot about the island and the places that were included in the tour. We saw so many fish, starfish, stingrays etc. and had the best time. They provided water and fruit punch on the boat as well for anyone who wanted anything to drink. I would highly recommend this trip over others, well worth your money and I personally think you get more in your tour than others.
Wow! Much more than expected. 1st stop was snorkeling with lots a coral, fish and stingrays. 2nd stop was Stingray City. The staff made time for all families on board to educate and entertain. 3rd stop on starfish point did not disappoint. Easy meeting location off the cruise and then we're shuttled right back to the ship. Amazing! Highly recommend!!!
We called and verified the start time of this tour the day before through viator. Everything confirmed. First off the ship to make sure we get there on time and arrive to be told that the tour left without us by another tour company that is set up in the tent with them. Then another family shows up after as well, because they were told the same thing. Some guy who has another tour company calls these people and tells them they have left at this point 8 people. They have it all ran on a piece of notebook paper, they don't track anything, it's crazy. Almost TWO HOURS wasted sitting under a tent that could have been with them coming back to get all of the people they left. Then we got stuck at the front of the boat that has a five foot wall, so you're literally staring at white walls not the ocean the entire time you're on the boat. They could have been thoughtful and had people rotate seats after each stop, but nope. Then, because we're stuck at the front by the engine and the bathroom gross you can't hear anything that they're saying. Evidently there was instructions to not take the starfish out of the water for even a second. I had my son take a starfish out to snap a quick picture as we see EVERYONE else at starfish point doing and the captain starts screaming at us in front of everyone. I don't know if it's because we are an interracial family or what, but literally all around everyone was doing this, which I pointed out to him and he never said anything to anyone else. They also kept doing it and no one else was yelled at for the rest of the time we were there, I watched the captain watching other people do it waiting for him to chew them out like he did my son, but he never did. My son was humiliated and wanted to leave, it took all of the fun out of the trip. Viator has refused to back up this tour at all and the events that took place, so BUYER BEWARE!!!! I would stick with your cruise for excursions, because this was a disaster and has no repercussion when they screw up what precious little time you have at port. The tour guides blame viator, Viator says the tour guide said there wasn't this problem so there wasn't, so we're simply out of luck for any recourse. Will never work with viator again. Also if you decide to go ahead and do this, their equipment isn't very good either or again if you're at the front of the boat you get stuck with the junk, so bring your own. We travel a ton and have had many aquatic experiences from swimming with whales, dolphins, snorkeling this was not impressive. Stingray city you are with hundreds of people, so if this is new to you, you might be easily impressed like most of these people giving reviews. If you're an avid traveler, adventurer, you will see this for what it is a tourist trap where they know they've got ya.
Easy on and off. Friendly staff. Juice and water available on board in styrofoam cups. We were on an open 35-40 foot boat with about 50 others. Recommend sitting in the back of the boat for two reasons 1 waves tend to come over the bow on the way and we and our towels got soaked up front and 2 the ladder used to get off the boat at each stop is at the back of the boat. It took us an extra 10 minutes in line each time we went to get off the boat. First stop 15 minutes out was Coral Gardens. 10 foot deep clear water with rocks and grass. We snorkeled for about 20 min masks and snorkels provided. 50 folks snorkleing in a small area was not the best then another boat anchored 10 feet away. 100 folks in a small area was really congested. Second stop was Stingray City. Small sandbar in the middle of the bay. Our Captain Manny and first mate Winston jumped in an caught a couple of large female stingrays with their hands. Manny and the photographer cycled each pair or group through a series of photos while Winston let folks pet and feed the other stingray. This was the highlight of the trip. The water was waist deep and the crew handled things really well. Photos on a USB drive and via email were offered on the way back for 45 add 2 for credit card. The third stop was a small beach where starfish gather. Again, the crew went in the water to assist and took photos with guests' cameras. We enjoyed our trip and thought the value for the price paid was excellent. A couple of recommendations for visitors waterproof bag, sit in back, waterproof camera, sunscreen. A couple of recommendations for the tour operators Offer bottled water for guests. Offer a fresh water rinse off after last stop. Provide some history or information about the islands on the way out and back in addition to music.
