I took this tour on Friday as I only had two days in Cairo/Giza and wanted to see the main sights. Mohamed was my tour guide for the day and he was great, very knowledgeable and tailored the tour to my requests. As a female solo traveller I was a bit apprehensive but Mohamed made me feel very safe and the day went very smoothly. This is a great way to see key points of interest in Cairo on a tight schedule, highly recommend!
We had a wonderful day with our tour guide Zenab. I actually booked this tour because it had the highest rating on Viator, and all the reviews are not wrong!
Firstly Zenab contacted me the day before via Whatsapp and confirmed everything. She even accommodated our request to start a little later because we were very tired from the flight. We met her promptly in our hotel lobby and we instantly became friends. Zenab speaks excellent English and is really knowledgeable about Egyptian History. We had a private mini van with us all day, which was great as we would leave stuff in the van and just get in and out.
Our drivers were excellent in negiotiating Cairo traffic. Our first stop were the pyramids, and Zenab took the time to point out important Cairo landmarks on our journey there. We found out a lot about recent Egyptian history. At the pyramids, all our tickets were paid for and we got in smoothly. Zenab made sure we were not hassled by any sellers. She told us all about the scams to look out for. She took us to the best spot for photos and happily took loads for photos for us. We also had a camel ride included in the price. If you've never been on a camel before, be aware that its a thrill ride and much less stable than riding a horse. However we all enjoyed it, and had some funny stories to tell at the end. Our camel guides also took some lovely photos of us on the camels with the pyramids. We tipped them 50 egyptian pounds each which is considered a good tip.
We also had the time to go inside one of the smaller pyramids none of us were too keen on going into the large pyramid which you have to pay an extra 200 pounds for. It was quite the adventure going down into the burial chamber and wonderful to see what was inside the chamber in the Egyptian museum. I highly recommend people wear sensible athletic shoes for this. We also got to climb a little way up the largest pyramid to take photos.
We also visited the sphinx and again took loads of photos. Zenab was excellent and captivating at explaining all the history.
We had some time before lunch so we visited a papyrus gallery. Zenab made sure to emphasize that we should not feel pressured to buy anything. We had a good demonstration of how papyrus was made and also what papyrus looked like because I actually didn't know. We never felt pressured to buy anything and really enjoyed wandering around the papyrus art gallery. The works were high quality here - not like what we saw later on in the bazaar.
Lunch was superb. We went to a nice local Egyptian place and had a set menu with lots of starters, the main course was a choice between beef, chicken or fish. I had the fish and it was very tender.
The afternoon was spent at the Egyptian museum, and Zenab showed us all the highlights. Its much better than going with a guide because Zenab was able to tell us much more than the small information plaques could. We saw all the treasures of Tutankhamun. Again the ticket price was included. Zenab took us to see some mummies but we decided not to pay extra to see the exposed royal mummies as we come from London and had seen plenty before in the British Museum. At the end we had some free time.
The last stop was the Bazaar, the largest in Cairo. It was a wonderful and colour taste of local Egyptian life and it didn't feel too touristy at all. The stores are a virtual Aladdin's cave of treasures and also a lot of colourful tat. We got to see one man cycling whilst balancing a huge tray of bread in one hand above his head. We stopped by the Mosque of Hassan for some pictures and Zenab took us to a famous Egyptian Pancake place. The pancakes were delicious, fresh out of the oven and wonderfully crispy.
We cannot thank Zenab enough for such a good day.
My advice is that you should bring cash for tips, and also to buy souvenirs because both the Egyptian Museum and Bazaar are good places to get them. Wear sensible shoes or sandals, and bring lots of sunblock and water.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the main highlights of Cairo in one day.
Yasser was a really great tour guide and a great host while in Egypt. He picked us up promptly from our hotel lobby, in an air conditioned car, and from the beginning told us everything he could about Egypt, it's culture, the ancient sites we were going to visit and everything in between. At one point, there was a small hang up with the tour, however Yasser talked us through the entire thing and made sure we were OK. Additionally, the lunch provided was really good - grilled chicken and vegetables with an assortment of sides to go along with it!!
Overall, we had a great time. We would refer friends to come back.
We had this guided tour with Zenab, and I have to say I was amazed with her professionalism. She knows so well about the city that she planned everything right in time. When in the Egypt Museum, she was even able to provide us with the key highlights with detailed explanation of the status. She was in no rush, so as to allow us to have our own time to do whatever we wanted.
The lunch was a great one too, that we could indeed hardly finish all the dishes
My review: I was lucky to be able to visit Cairo for a business trip this August and had an opportunity to tour. I booked the first tour through Viator and fate was lucky enough to pair our group with this company and best of all the lovely Zenab. I could talk about all of the amazing sights pyramids, museum, Khan el Khalili, Coptic and Islamic Cairo but the honest truth is the best part of all Cairo was Meeting our amazing guide. She is not only extremely knowledgeable, professional, and excellent at what she does, but shes a kind and wonderful person that became a friend during my time there. In meeting many people and places around the world, you learn thatwhile there are different ways of doing thingsthe character of people is a blessing and the most important thing to learn. I highly recommend this company and their tours if their guides are the quality human beings just like Zenab. It was an adventure of a lifetime, and I hope to be back just to see my friend. Special thanks to the very wonderful drivers Kamel and Basem who were so kind, and also helped me practice my Arabic even though I was not very good at remembering!. It takes a very good driver to navigate the city and they were amazing. So many thanks for this wonderful experience.
My husband and I did this tour as part of our honeymoon. I think there is always a little added pressure for things to go well for a special occasion and this trip couldn't have gone any better!!!
We had the best time getting to know Heba and our driver personally and professionally. She was extremely knowledgable, you'll want to soak up everything she says. She gives you plenty of time to explore, take pictures and more.
I would recommend this trip and Heba to both first timers and experienced travelers.
Additionally, plan to make some purchases at the different locations, all good, quality stuff.
You should increase the rating to 100 stars because of Zenab - our tour guide -She deserves all of them! She made our tour a unique experience!
Together with the driver, Hassan, it was like an orchestra - the car on time - no delays - very very kind people!
We started on time - we had a great experience - the tour at the Pyramids was perfect - the camel ride was fun! Amazingly organised by Zenab. We did everything we wanted and we didn't felt bored at all I'm not a big fan of museums and guides myself because of Zenab! I really mean it! Sphinx was great. Lunch was really nice. Friendly environment wherever they took us! The museum was fantastic! Bazaar? Great experience for souvenirs! The package worth every penny! But I think what made the tour so good was the team we had with us - ZENAB you are a star - and Hassan! Highly recommended!
Michael was our tour guide and he was absolutely amazing. He was very attentive, EXTREMELY knowledgable, courteous, and passionate about what he was teaching us. We came in June, extremely hot, and the museum as well was very hot and uncomfortable, the only thing that got us through was listening to our guide speak. He told us how to tip the people, how to bargain with the small shops and how to avoid being taken advantage of. He also helped us choose things to do the following days. Our AC in the first car wasnt very good, and he was nice enough to arrange for another car. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to see the best of Egypt, it is worth every penny and then some!
We arranged our Day Tour of the Giza Pyramids and neighbouring sights on very short notice the day before, and were extremely impressed with such a great result. We were met at our hotel by our very well english spoken tour guide Bassem.
Bassems knowledge and history of the Giza plateau and sights was very valuable and rewarding. Having a guide with a warm and friendly character, who gives you assurance and makes you feel comfortable is extremely important when you are a new arrival in Egypt and Bassim ticks all these boxes.
We highly recomment this particular 8 hour Private Tour and the memories of this adventures and experience will remain with us for life.
We cannot recommend Viator and especially Bassem highly enough, for any party wishing to enjoy the fabulous sights that Cairo and Giza offer.
Thank you once again for making our short stay in Egypt the success it has been
