Outstanding tour with our tour guide extraordinaire! Paul was very knowledgeable of the areas we travelled, gave us plenty of time to explore on our own, and shared additional sites off the beaten path. Lunch at the Punaluu Bake Shop was quaint and delicious dinner at The Volcano House was enchanting and exquisite! Fabulous day and lasting memories of our time at the Big Island!
Our Guide Marcus was amazing. He was so informative and knowledgeable! He showed us many variety of plants and explained how they could survive in the harsh acidic climate of the volcano. Told us about the Islands with geological and historical information that was excellent. We saw sea turtles on the black sand beach and again Marcus explained how the flora around there was edible and how the black beaches were formed. Lunch and dinner were delicious. The viewing of the Volcano was AMAZING. It was a very cold and windy night but that did'n't dampen our fascination of watching the glow! Everyone should take the opportunity to go on this tour. Just make sure you bring clothing to keep you warm!
This tour was the best. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel in a modern and comfortable shuttle type van. Paul, our guide, was so knowledgeable about the history of the Island of Hawaii. He was very conscious about our comfort and safety, especially around the craters and rainforest areas on the tour. And the meals!!! Lunch and dinner were well planned and the food was delicious. Great choices. On our way back to our hotels at the end of a very busy day, he even stopped at an out of the way spot so we could admire the clear and very dark night sky which was filled with stars. We would highly recommend this tour company.
This was a great day! We loved our guide, John. He was well informed on the island's geology and cultural history and obviously loves what he does. Plus, he was easy going and was easy to talk to and joke around with.
The stops along the way were all very well thought out. The highlight of the trip was being able to sit and watch the volcano create a red glow in the steam after dark and even shoot up some red hot lava! We were sorry that we did not get to do the night time stargazing stop, but that was because we were the only ones who were staying in Kona, so John had to return via our morning route to drop us off before taking everyone else back to the Wiakoloa area.
This is a small tour operator with just the one luxury van. They put everything into making sure that they provided an excellent experience for us. It was obvious that they are like family to the employees - they have all worked in the tour business for years before the owner, Paul, struck out on his own. We are all for supporting this business and their excellent customer service!
Paul was a great tour guide. He provided good information. Our comfort was his highest priority as was his commitment that we get the best out of the tour. The lunch and dinner that were provided with the tour were definitely first class. We definitely felt the price was worth every penny for the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour.
