Our tour guide Vicente and driver Joaquin were very good, we were a group of seven and had a wonderful day. We walked Girona and Vicente was very good with all the explanations and then we went to a small medieval townof Pals and then Calella de Palafurgell a fishermans town very pretty for lunch. We loved our tour..
This was the best tour of my Greece, Italy, and Spain Vacation. This was in great part due to Mattheus, our tour guide. He was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, patient, with a great sense of humor. He explained very clear and appropriately the history, architecture, and political influences of the Catalan towns as we traveled through them. This made all the difference between this tour and others. Mr. Mattheus went the extra mile to make this tour the
The tour was good and all of the stops were worth a visit. Our guide, Paul, was knowledgeable and a nice guy. But, I had a few issues. First, it would have been much better to have a Catalan guide rather than a Brit. While he is knowledgeable we felt that he had no real connection to Catalunya and, therefore, was not passionate about the area. In fact, he seemed somewhat cynical at times. Second, being seated in the back of the 9 passenger van it was sometimes hard to hear what he was saying a microphone would help. Maybe it did not matter since he seemed to be talking to the woman sitting next to him most of the time. While he was driving he was even looking at pictures she was showing him on her phone - not appropriate. He also gave almost no commentary as we were driving.
Incredible Girona was everything we hoped it would be. Great history, beautiful buildings and the links to GOT ensured there was something for everyone. We finished our day on the Costa Brava in an idyllic seaside setting. Passionate, knowledgeable guides and a small group made for a memorable day.
Paul did a fantastic job. He arrived to our hotel on time, was friendly and accommodating. The tour was beautiful, a must see if you have a free day while in Barcelona. Paul suggested a local restaurant in Girona for lunch and it was unbelievably delicious!! : My only suggestion for this trip is that, it would have been nice to have more free time in Girona and Costa Brava as we did not have much time at either place to venture out on our own - none at Girona and maybe 30 minutes in Costa Brava, perhaps limiting the walking as a group in Girona would have helped, but it was truly an amazing trip overall!! :
