This tour was amazing! The tour leader was really sweet and kind but also knowledgeable! This tour provided a great learning experience and I would highly recommend! The only issue, at the end of the tour, we were taken to a jewellery gallery. This was not described in the tour information and also took away from the magic of the temples and experience. There was a pressure to buy from the shop assistants that was not appreciated. Overall, the tour was good and interesting!
This tour is a 4 hour morning pick up. We were told the pick up would be 8:00-8:30, they didn't arrive until almost 9:00. We were a group of 4 with an English speaking guide. We got very little info at each temple because she was speaking as we were walking. If you weren't right beside her you missed a lot of what she was explaining. There was so much to take in at the Grand Palace but we were too busy keeping a eye on where our guide was because of the crowds. The temples were beautiful as was the Grand Palace but the crowds were so great that you missed the beauty. Better to go at night when it is illuminated and less crowded, no entrance fee.
I booked a number of tours and activities in Bangkok and Phuket and this one was the most expensive and least impressive. I booked the tour in advance and while I saw many tours weren't running on this particular day, Vesak, this company was. I saw that the Grand Palace closed at noon but since it was a half day tour, I figured we would be fine. Two days before I left for Thailand 4 days before th tour, they told me the Grand Palace was closed not what the Grand Palace site said! and that they would need to reschedule. With my limited time in Bangkok and before my departure, I went forward with that. Off to a bad start already.
Once booked, they confirmed my hotel pick up time via email. When I checked in to my hotel, I received an updated confirmation. The night before I left, they called my room and changed the time again. In the morning, they showed up late. Another example of poor planning.
The Grand Palace and the temples were all beautiful and must sees but book the lesser priced tours or go on your own. The Grand Palace was packed which made it especially hot and humid. As a result, the guide took us to a few points and let us wander for pictures. We did NOT explore the entire property. The other temples were not crowded so he talked to us much more about the background and history but not much overall. He also kept rushing us which was annoying. While all tours end with a stop at the gem store, my return transportation took well over an HOUR to get back to my hotel the tour was less than 4 hours! and I was the 2nd stop. On the way the driver did not know how to get back to one group's hotel and tried to just drop them off on the street. I looked up their hotel on my phone and gave the driver the directions. Turns out we had driven in one big circle. I thought the tour would be more than transportation and admission fees but it was little more than that. Definitely not worth the 70 price tag. If it had been 40 or less, I might have been okay with the price.
A very ordinary tour, and one that did not even take us to the guaranteed sights. Guide was average, not very interested, and the sight we particularly wanted to see, the Emerald Buddha, was not even included despite being marked on the web site as a highlight of the tour. Not recommended.
