The pick up was a bit late and we had to change to a different bus but the drive there was amazingly beautiful. The guide was really informative mixing history and myth. The actual site was stunning! It was really crowded though and I think that annoyed the tour guide. The museum was ok though. FYI don’t book with lunch they’ll drop you off at the town of Delphi where my friends and I found a really good souvlaki place that was a really decent price.
Not very good. Guide had very heavy accent. Bus wifi was good only 25 percent of the time. Airconditiong was nit cold on the return trip. Thought water bottle at least one was included. Guide said never included. Instead of eating lunch first at noon, we started the toyr at noon, finished the tour and museaum till almost three pm then had lunch.
The tour sounded good from the description, and it did include great things to see. However, the allocation of time was just unreasonable and illogical. For being the Delphi Day Trip, the amount of time given in Delphi was ridiculously short. If you want to go to Delphi, find transportation there and explore it on your own. You’ll find it much more satisfying than this tour.
We took this tour on July 8th. We were the first to be picked-up at our hotel about 7:30 am and we returned about 6:00 pm that evening. The overall trip was great. It’s a long drive out after they collected all the other guest around Athens, but it was a pleasant drive and certainly worth the wait. The guide used the bus travel time to explain the mythology and history associated to the site and region. It was a great way to understand what we were about to see. A single stop on the way out to grab a coffee/stretch your legs for maybe 20 minutes at a roadside coffee stop. At Delphi the bus dropped us off at the main area and we enjoyed a guided walking tour, followed by some free time to take pictures, or walk up further, and then we ended the visit with a guided tour in the museum. Our guide did a great job in all aspects. We used our free time to walk around and get some great pictures. I think we had about 45~50 minutes to ourselves before we had to meet up in the museum. When we left Delhi we went for lunch in the local town to Hotel Amalia . Meal was local cuisine and fine. Some on our tour group elected to skip the lunch and instead had the time to walk around the Delphi village. I think the lunch was the better option as the town is pretty much closed during summer months with a few local tourist stores open. When we continued back we did have a break in Parnassos which really is a ski village so not too many stores open in summer, plus it was Sunday. Maybe in the winter months this would be better. I think we could have skipped this stop since it really was only 15 minutes after we started our drive back to Athens. We returned back to Athens about 6pm and very glad we went out to see the Oracle of Delphi.
