Tour guideBill was extremely knowledgeable about the nature, history and current events of the area covered in the tour. His prior occupations and time lived in this part of Alaska were very conducive to giving the tour members a quick but well defined education! This tour is grass roots touring. Don't expect a 20 ton motor coach with air ride suspension and a waiter. Do expect a rugged and realistic experience up the Dalton highway and bring a big ole healthy sack lunch! Bill will usually share a drink from his cooler if you forgot yours! The camaraderie among tour members as well as your guide is a great thing to experience....much better than larger groups. LOVED IT!-- Greg and Donna from west Texas.
It was a long day--noon to past midnight--to get to the Arctic Circle and back to Fairbanks, but our driver/guide Bill was amazing, telling us story after story of his experiences working for the pipeline and living in the area. We did not see any wildlife, unfortunately, but the road, most of which is gravel, is heavily traveled by big trucks hauling to and from Prudhoe Bay so they may scare off some critters. But Bill made up for the lack of wildlife with his stories. And of course the scenery was incredible.
The trip was a great experience! The tour guide was very knowledgeable throughout the trip. The trip was long, but very relaxing. The vastness of the state is unbelievable to experience. I would highly recommend the trip with Bill.
