This tour is overpriced for what you do. The tour guide was not very enthusiastic and often just on his phone. The tour is advertised as a 7.5hr tour, however it only went for 4 hours. They stretch the time out by having you in a food court for lunch at the end for 1 hour. You may as well just go straight back to town. Nothing you can’t see on your own.
Great fun

Our guides were wonderful and fun, giving us food for the monkeys and having them literally eating right out of our hands! A one of a kind experience
Perfect excursion

Our guides were very accommodating to our group of 20 people (family reunion). Some had been to Panama and Monkey Island before and for others this was their first time. Was very enjoyable for everyone. The guides were very informative about the environment and culture. Traveled with ages from 12 to 60 and everyone had fun. The Indian village was a treat.....the people so friendly and the children joyful and playful. Authentic experience
Boat ride - fun Feeding monkeys — more fun!

Fun ride through the National Park before arriving at “evil” monkey to whom the guide threw a banana. Then off to friendly monkeys that climbed onboard for peanuts and bananas.
Wonderful experience for the whole family !

This was such an amazing trip ! Sergio was fabulous! He went out of his way to make our trip an enjoyable experience. We loved everything.....especially feeding the monkeys ! The Embera village was a fun experience, and the walk through the rainforest was intriguing. We had ages 18-72, and everyone LOVED this trip !
Greatest Tour ever!

This tour was exciting, adventurous and iinformative. Our boat was actually ON the canal! How about those bragging rights!!!! The Indian village was absolutely amazing! But the person who made this an amazing tour was Russ our guide. He is a walking wealth of knowledge about Panama. I will do this again!

What an awesome day out! We got to see several types of monkeys up close and we even got to hear the howler monkeys! It was cool being in the Panama canal and seeing some of the ships cruising along. We also got to visit an indigenous community and learn more about the jungle/rainforest. All very interesting and it was great getting additional history from Gonzo our guide - awesome!!. Overall, a great day!

This tour was amazing! Our first guide Ross met us at the American Trade Hotel in the Old Town where we were picked up. He drove us to the dock, all the while providing information on both what our day would entail of and about the parks and canals we were driving by. When we reached our fiberglass boat, we were introduced to our tour guide, Gonzo. Gonzo was very enthusiastic and knowledgable. It was great getting to see 2 out of the 3 types of monkeys enter our boat so we could see them up close. The 3rd type tends to stay up in the trees - we had a great view of them, as well. We were then taken to the Indian Village where we were introduced to the community and got to walk through a jungle. The whole experience was incredible. Getting to see Monkey Island and Soberania National Park/Indian Village all in one trip is so convenient and very interesting. I strongly recommend this trip!! Thank you, Ross and Gonzo!

One of the best tours I've been on. Boat ride and Monkey Islands fun, but visiting authentic indigenous village the best. Gonzo, our guide really knows his stuff about the monkeys, rainforest plants medical uses, and especially the culture and history of the tribe.

We had an awesome time with Gonzo checking out Soberania National Park, the monkeys, and the indian village.
Wood recommend anything Gonzo was hosting as he made the tour. His knowledge of the sites and Panama were unparalleled by anyone we met on our trip.

My wife and I went on this tour Wednesday January 17, 2018 with Gonzolas of Barefoot Panama, who is very knowledgeable, has a great personality and a perfect command of the English language. It was a pleasure spending the day with him and would highly recommend this tour. Thank you again Gonzolas.

We were picked up in Panama City around 8 a.m., drove to the dock on the Charges River, boarded a canopied boat and motored into Lake Gatun. We had a local English speaking guide, saw White Faced, Tamarind, and Howler Monkeys. The first two species came on to the boat.
We then went back into the Charges and upriver to a native village where we took a short hike through the jungle. Gonzo, our guide, showed us many trees and plants that the natives used for various purposes. Then we heard about their culture and lifestyle, saw some of their carvings and weavings and purchased... bring cash!, and saw some native dances. Overall, a really good day done by 3 or so though the food court they took us to for lunch was not my favorite. The trip was a bit pricey for what you got, but a lot of things in Panama are.

We were picked up at American Trade Hotel in Old Town Panama City. We were driven out of the city about 1/2 hour, past the locks where we boarded a nice, covered fiberglass boat and went onto the Canal to see the islands with the monkeys about 45 minute ride. Because this was north of the dam where they flooded the area, the old hilltops have become islands in Gatun Lake. We were very fortunate and saw all three types: howler, white-face capuchin and tamarin monkeys. Our guide had shelled peanuts and bananas along, a controversial practice, and the capuchin jumped on our boat and entertained us with their fast movements to get peanuts from anyone who was holding them. It was fun, not scary. While the other two types don't come onto the boat, we were very fortunate to see babies on their islands and have them just a few feet from us. Our guide and other guides have told us this is VERY rare. You do not get off the boat so no special shoes are needed. We then turned around and headed back towards our starting point. We took a turn near the starting point and went down a tributary to reach the Wounaan, a tribal village. We got off the boat and entered their village where we learned about their customs, way of life and how they have adjusted to restrictions since their village has been declared part of the national park. We put on insect repellent Bring some with deet. and went for a walk in the jungle to learn about the plants growing along the path. We boarded the boat, went back to the van, stopped for lunch on your own at a food court back in the city and were dropped at the American Trade Hotel by 3:00. The van ride is bumpy so speak up and sit in the front if you have back problems. The boat ride and seeing the monkeys were the highlights. The village visit was our second native village so not as intriguing as the first. Be prepared for mosquitoes. I didn't get a single bite with long sleeves, shorts and sufficient repellent.

Great way to spend a day and see the Canal. The tour combines several things, so it is likely to be interesting for the whole family. Monkeys were cute. The Village was very interesting and a walking tour in the jungle with a discussion of plants and trees significant to the natives lifestyles was included. All in all a satisfying experience.

We recommend this tour to everyone visiting Panama. Our guide was Ross, the very best guide we have ever had We saw the canal, the rain forest, crocodiles, monkeys and natives of the area. Ross gave us a wealth of information covering the history of the canal, how it works, and the history of Panama from gold and pirates and how the natives helped the US military. It was a fascinating tour and everything we expected and more. If you are going to take one tour, this is the one.

This is a fun boat ride to Monkey Islands and a short visit to an Indian Village. Rain or shine, Urban adventures provides quality tours. Our lunch stop at the end of the days was wonderful too!
