Mud Island River Park

Though not actually an island, but rather a small peninsula surrounded by the Mississippi River and the Wolf River Harbor, Mud Island is still a great place to learn more about the history and culture of the Mississippi, as well as experience the great outdoors. It is home to a museum, restaurants, and an amphitheater, and offers plenty of outdoor recreation.

The Mississippi River Park offers bike trails, pedal boats, and rafts so you can enjoy some fun in the beautiful outdoors. There is also a hydraulic scale model of the lower Mississippi River, complete with markers explaining the history of the river, as well as fun facts about it. To learn more, you can also check out the Mississippi River Museum, which presents the history of the lower Mississippi river valley, with great emphasis on steamboats, complete with a full-scale replica steamboat. If you visit during the summer, be sure to check out what concerts are playing at Mud Island's 5,000 seat amphitheater, which regularly features popular music artists.
